COMPANY OVERVIEW 

The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure.

ROLE SUMMARY: 

The Computer Operator position is responsible for running, monitoring and verifying the successful execution of batch software applications related to cheque processing and other payments products, with distinct daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities in an environment with tight deadlines, changing priorities, and the requirement for a high degree of accuracy. This position is a nightshift role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for the processing of incoming and outgoing files through the operation of cheque processing imaging system (ISCheck) and verifying of computer applications, completing the required production documents and the operation and maintenance of all peripheral equipment.
  • Monitoring system activity including the investigation and resolving of errors, the reporting of unresolved issues to the manager and/or technical support, and where appropriate, the resolution of system problems under the direction of local or remote support staff.
  • Daily balancing of payment applications, for example deposit, exchange, CDN and U.S. clearing.
  • Maintaining the on-site cheque storage area by ensuring its contents are up-to-date and properly recorded. Print and package Month End Imaging Statements for delivery to the Credit Union.
  • Balancing and verification of financial transactions for settlement that directly impact credit unions and its members. Along with requirements for speed and flexibility, a high degree of accuracy is critical.
  • Support activities for payment activities within Operations.
  • This position covers the following shift: night, Operators are expected to cross training on 3 shifts with possibly providing coverage on another shift during staff shortages.

Experience & Education Requirements

Education equivalent to completion of high school and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school that provides a recognized specific certificate.

The role requires more than one to two years relevant experience to perform the job effectively.
