Product Manager – Wires

COMPANY OVERVIEW 

The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure.

ROLE SUMMARY: 

Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is undergoing a payments modernization initiative and requires an experienced product manager to oversee the Wires payment product. This role will focus on managing and enhancing wire transfer services, ensuring compliance with Payments Canada regulations, and delivering secure, reliable, and customer-centric solutions. The Product Manager – Wires will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to drive the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with PPJV’s overall strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Product Strategy & Development:

  • Develop and communicate the Wires product strategy to key stakeholders.
  • Define and prioritize features, enhancements, and new product offerings based on customer needs, regulatory requirements, and market trends
  • Ensure that the product strategy aligns with PPJV’s modernization initiatives and compliance standards

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all wire transfer processes comply with Payments Canada rules and regulations, as well as internal compliance policies
  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and risk management teams to assess and mitigate risks associated with wire payments

Product Roadmap & Lifecycle Management:

  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap for wire transfer services, including release scope and prioritization
  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept through launch and ongoing performance monitoring
  • Work closely with technology partners and vendors to deliver updates, fixes, and new features

Market Analysis & Pricing:

  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, competitive landscape, and trends in wire payments
  • Develop business cases and pricing strategies for new and existing wire payment services

Operational Efficiency:

  • Work with operations and IT teams to optimize wire transfer processing, ensuring timely and accurate transactions
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding wire payment products
  • Provide regular updates on product performance, enhancements, and compliance status

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Define KPIs for wire transfer services and develop reporting tools to track product performance.
  • Analyze transaction data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

 

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field
  • MBA or related Master’s degree is an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of product management experience in payments, financial services, or related fields
  • Experience managing wire transfer products and knowledge of wire transfer systems and protocols
  • Familiarity with Payments Canada rules, regulations, and standards
  • Proven track record in developing product strategies and managing product lifecycles

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of payment systems architecture and security protocols
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical skills with experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
