IT Project Manager

COMPANY OVERVIEW 

The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure.

ROLE SUMMARY: 

The Information Technology Project Manager (IT PM) plays a critical leadership role in managing cross-functional project teams to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects, meeting both timelines and budget constraints. The IT PM is accountable for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, adhering to the software development life cycle (SDLC) as well as Agile/Hybrid methodologies, and ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet project objectives.

This role involves ensuring compliance with budget and project scope, as well as ensuring client satisfaction and supporting artifacts meets quality standards. The IT PM will serve as the primary point of communication for all stakeholders throughout each project phase, ensuring timely and effective updates.

Ultimately, the IT PM is responsible for delivering a thoroughly documented, fully tested, and functional product within agreed-upon timelines and financial constraints. Ideal candidates for this role will possess strong analytical skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to maintain positive stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Planning and execution of projects on time and on budget
  • Following PMO methodologies including creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation
  • Ensuring project complies with best practices, SOPs, PMO policies, and other policies
  • Being the key escalation point for stakeholder on projects that belong to more junior staff cannot resolve on their own
  • Leading the relationship with stakeholders such as project personnel, vendors, and end-users regarding project requirements and ensuring cross functional team delivery
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of assigned payments projects
  • Monitoring and reporting on project progress and implementing changes where necessary.
  • Monitoring and managing expenditures in accordance with the budget
  • Oversee compliance with objectives, organizational policies, procedures, and standards and that projects stay on track
  • Reporting to management on problems based on project reports and data
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across product management, technology and operations
  • Managing and mitigating risks and issues
  • Provide status reporting at various levels of the organization
  • Communicate project details clearly to management and the team
  • Ensure resource availability, allocation and provide training to resources
  • Develop a detailed project plans to track progress
  • Other duties as required

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science, engineering for technical project managers, project management or business administration
  • 10+ years experience working as a project manager
  • PMP or scrum master certification an asset
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence tools
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience in financial services and technology
  • Experience in payments services
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
